In 1997, the national food sector owned 11,297 grain and oil processing enterprises; (including 5777 rice processing enterprises, 4104 flour processing enterprises, 1416 vegetable oil processing enterprises ), with an overall output value of 752 billion.
Experts believe that focus should be centered on the development of rice milling equipment. China is the world's largest rice producing area, and consumption in China in 1999 was 186 million tons of rice, which is already more than the supply. Consumption of rice rations are 60% to 70% by the country's farmers. In 1996, the Food sector included more than 6,300 rice processing enterprises. However, from 1997 to 1999, most production of rice mill machines, people began to use the mini rice mills. The production of the rice mill wind jet has also been quite beneficial, and is mainly used in rural areas. Yields were ranging in the tens of thousands in Taiwan , because of its technical performance, however there is low quality in the rice production, low productivity, and declining trend in its sales. During the period between 2001 and 2005 there will be some needs, but the amount will not be too great.
The combination rice milling machine was developed in the last century during the late 80s to early 90s, and now the annual output has reached more than ten thousand units. In the upcoming years a strong momentum of development is expected.
Experts say that the manufacturing of small and medium sized complete sets of machinery and refined rice have improved the rice processing machine precision and has been very popular in recent years. Therefore, it is expected that the rapid development of future sales will be good.
According to industry experts estimate that within the next 50 years, the annual demand for rice milling equipment will reach 0.5 to 1 million sets.
