DCT30/50-XSZ Biomass Mini Parboiled Rice Milling Plant is HTM’s Latest Mini Parboiled Rice Mill, and also an upgraded version of the XCT and ZCT series. The merits of the XCT & ZCT Series versions have been maintained in this new series plus the following additional advantages;

2. Higher Whitening/Polishing Efficiency, This significantly increases the rice milling quality, and reduces the rate of breakage of the rice by using a multistep whitening/polishing technology

Parboiled rice (also known as converted rice) is rice that has been partially boiled in the husk. The three basic steps of parboiling are soaking, steaming and drying. These steps also make rice easier to process by hand, boost its nutritional profile and change its texture. About 50% of the world’s paddy production is parboiled. The treatment is practiced in many parts of the world such as India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Myanmar, Malaysia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Guinea, South Africa, Italy, Spain, Nigeria, Senegal, Thailand, Switzerland, USA and France etc.



Advantages of Parboiled Rice

Compared with ordinary rice, parboiled rice has more nutrients. Research shows that there is a significant improvement in nutritive value, rice whitening/polishing quality, organoleptic quality and storage time of parboiled rice, with market price 10% -15% higher than that of the same level white rice.

1.Higher Nutritional Quality
In parboiling process, most water-soluble substances, such as Vitamins B and inorganic salts in cortex and embryo will penetrate into endosperm without water being lost in the process like the case with ordinary rice. Research has further depicted that 50% ~ 90% Vitamins B1 in embryo enters into endosperm, VB1, and VB5 content increases by nearly 2 to 3 times, while calcium, phosphorus and iron contents increase in varying degrees compared with ordinary rice.

2.Higher Processing Quality
Through parboiling treatment, rice husks become brittle, and easily husked/shelled, with improvement in rice structural mechanics. Thus, broken rice rate significantly decreases in milling process, milled rice rate increases and rice grains become more transparent and glossy after processing. Additionally, relevant tests and practices has shown that more parboiled rice (with the same precision) can be produced from indica rice and polished japonica rice compared with ordinary rice, approximately 25~35 kg and 15~25kg per ton respectively. In this regard, broken rice rate decreases 5%, head rice rate increases 10%, and oil extraction rate rises 3%~4% as rice bran is boiled.


3.Higher Cooking Quality

Parboiled rice has better expansibility compared with ordinary rice. Parboiled rice has 4% higher boiled rice rate. With heat treatment, part chains of starch will break and turn into dextrin. In parboiled rice, the content of dextrin is 1.80%~2.20%, five times higher than that in ordinary rice (4%). According to the digestion test on humans, the digestibility of protein in parboiled rice is 4.5% than that of regular rice. As a result, preboiled rice is particularly suitable for infants and young children, patients under rehabilitation and the elderly.

4.Prolonged Rice Storage Time

After parboiling treatment, microorganisms are killed, and enzyme activity is inhibited, which prevent the occurrence of predicaments in storage, like mildew. Moreover, endosperm starch dries after gelatinization, with higher hardness, solid moisture content, and higher resistance to pests. The storage time increase to 2~3 years.

Rice husk is one of the by-products produced during in rice processing. The combustion of rice husk is over 70%, and its calorific value is about 12.5~14.6KJ / kg, which is about half that of standard coal. Therefore, rice husk is a convenient and a cheap renewable energy source. Rice husk has a high volatile component, up to 50, making it is easy to burn. Rice husk has a small bulk density, about 130 kg/m, which makes it inconvenient for transportation, and prone to mildew and fire. The common treatment of rice husks is to be crushed as feed ingredients (with the addition of few nutrients) or directly for heating, but there is still a large number of rice husks left untouched, resulting in pollution of the environment. In this aspect, HTM makes great efforts to the research and the development of rice husks and successfully establishes a biomass/rice husk power generation system, using waste rice husk to generate electricity. This, in turn, supplies the entire parboiled rice mill plant and other auxiliary facilities with electricity. HTM recycles rice husks, greatly reducing the operating cost of the rice milling plant.
